About The Course

The Progressive Writers’ Movement, also known as the ‘Taraqqi Pasand Tehreek’ was one of the most powerful literary movements in Urdu. It was founded on the principle that literature cannot be isolated from the social and political scenario. In this course, Prof. Ali Ahmad Fatmi, a renowned progressive critic, will take you through the emergence and development of this movement. You will also get to know about the foundational principles and ideology that shaped the movement. Additionally, you will learn about the outcomes, as well as its impact on Urdu language and literature. The prominent writers and poets and their major contributions have also been discussed in this course.
